About Our Founder

Kirk D. Nemer, J.D., SPHR
President and Chairman of the Board
Kirk D. Nemer, J.D., SPHR

Kirk Nemer is uniquely qualified to assist you as both an employment attorney and a human resources expert. After nearly 20 years as a Corporate Counsel and Vice President of Human Resources for Fortune 500 and Global corporations, he has negotiated hundreds of employment agreements, severance agreements, and severance packages for executives and professionals. With Career Protection ®, he brings his expertise in HR and law, and corporate inside knowledge to help executives, managers, and professionals resolve employment issues and get what they are worth. His advice empowers people to take a proactive approach to positioning themselves for career success and maximizing their personal value without legal escalation.

In his previous roles as Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Counsel, Mr. Nemer handled employment litigation in employment matters, including discrimination, harassment, disability, wrongful terminations, compensation, and benefits matters. Throughout his career, he has successfully obtained thousands of dollars for people by avoiding litigation through preventive legal maintenance. Mr. Nemer has proven that through negotiation coaching and a success plan for the executive or professional to follow, you can avoid hurting your career and financial future whether you expect to be hired, fired, laid off or retired.

Formerly a Legislative Attorney for the United States Congress, Mr. Nemer provided legal opinions to Members of Congress, and advised Congressmen and Senators for congressional hearings. He specialized in employment and privacy of information issues, working on legislation that ultimately became law, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Mr. Nemer has also completed employment relations and negotiation training with the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Mr. Nemer earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Political Science, magna cum laude, from The American University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. He was one of only 50 national human resources leaders to be selected by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) to attend The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned a Human Resources Executive Certificate.

Mr. Nemer is a Member of the American Bar Association (ABA)-- Labor and Employment Law Section, and the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA). He is also a Member of the Colorado Bar Association, and was duly licensed and admitted to practice law in the States of Colorado (1996) and Michigan (1987). In addition, Mr. Nemer also serves as a founding Board Member of a chapter of the Human Resources Planning Society (HRPS) and is a participating Member of two state Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) Chapters.

Mr. Nemer, a former Professorial Lecturer of the School of Public Affairs at The American University, continues to be invited to conduct training seminars and lectures on many aspects of human resources and employment law. He most recently presented his “HR War Stories—what really happens in HR” lecture to a SHRM chapter, was a guest speaker at Denver University’s Daniels College of Business Employment Law, and conducted his “Interviewing and Hiring Seminar” to several multinational companies. He is currently writing a book about the corporate secrets of human resources entitled What’s Law Got To Do With It? : A Corporate Insider’s Guide for Protecting Your Career. ©
